Yamuna Nagar is a district headquarters. In the year 1989, on 16th
October, Yamuna Nagar was made into a new district of the state of Haryana.
Prior to this, it used to come under the district of Ambala. Yamuna Nagar is a
clean and prosperous industrial city mainly known for its plywood units. One of
the cities of Haryana it is blessed to be located by the River Yamuna. Recently
due to rapid urbanization,
Yamuna Nagar etched its importance in history. It had remained the
residence of refugees who migrated to India after partition in I947. It was
earlier known as 'Abdullahpur' and was inhabited by 6000 people. Through
archeological survey Harappan stones and bricks were found from this region of
Haryana. It has many tourist places.
Kalesar Wild Life
Sanctuary: The area covered by the sanctuary is
11,570 acres. It is snuggled in the Shivalik’s lower hills. In the eastern
corner of Yamunanagar, this place is located. Khair, Shisam, Tun, Sain &
Amla and many more different varieties of trees can be seen in the forests.
Many species of wild animals are also present in the forest.

Devi Lal Herbal Nature Park: On the Yamuna Nagar Paonta Sahib road, in a small village named
Chuharpur, this nature park is located. An array of plants having healing
properties is there on the mountains of the Shiwaliks. In order to cater to the
need of the rising demand of medicinal plants in the national as well as
international business circuit, the Ch. Devi Lal Nature Park has been formed.
The function of the park is to preserve, produce and supply these healing
plants in the state of Haryana.
Bilaspur
and Kapalmochan:
The town of Bilaspur is a place bearing historical significance. The name of
the village has been derived from Mahabharata’s writer named Maharishi ‘Ved
Vyas’. As per the myth, it is so believed that on the side of a pond, which is
located here, an ashram of Ved Vyas was situated. The precedence of Kapalmochan
is proved by the sculpture of Uma Mahadev, which was made during the 9th-10th
century, the sculpture of Ganesha, which was built during the 11th-12th century
and the leftovers of the Gupta rule time period. Rinmochan, Kapalmochan and
Surya kund are the names of the pond, which are situated here. After taking a
dip in these ponds, people really feel enhanced in the spiritual sense. A
temple belonging to Hindu faith and a Gurudawara of Dasham Padhashahi are also
present here.
Adibadri: At a distance of
40 Kms from the town of Yamunanagar and in the north direction of the town,
Adibadri is situated. One can come here on the road passing through the town of
Bilaspur. From the closest village, the distance of this location is a mere 2
Kms. In the foothills of the Siwaliks, this place is situated. One can visit
the temles named Adi-Badri Narayana, Shri Kedar Nath and Mantra Devi Temples,
which are situated against the backdrop of the breathtakingly beautiful
terrain, full with the beauty of Mother Nature.
Buria Sahib Gurudwara: The Gurudwara is located in Buria which is about 10 kms from
Yamuna Nagar city center. The Gurudwara is known to be a popular religious place
for the Sikh community. The Sikh festivals are celebrated with great joy at the
Gurudwara. Every Sunday a Lungar (free food served as God’s blessings
irrespective of rich or poor) is organized in the Gurudwara that is attended by
hundreds of devotees from Yamuna Nagar.
Jodian Sahib Gurudwar: Jodian Sahib Gurudwara can be categorised under Religious places and is a popular tourist place in Yamuna Nagar. This Jodian Sahib Gurudwara draws huge crowds from the neighbouring places of Kurukshetra, Sirsa, Panipat, Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Hisar, Rohtak, Chandigarh, Panchkula.
Shiva Temple Bhatol: The ancient Shiva Temple is located on the Ambala Road in Bhatoli area. The temple is very popular in Yamunanagar. Devotees for far off places gather here during the festival of Maha Shivratri and a fair is organized here. The festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion.
Pateleshwar temple Pataleshwar Mahadev temple is situated in Buria about 10 kms from Yamunanagar city center. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and has a beautiful garden within the temple premises and an ashram for the saints. The temple is worth watching and a great tourist attraction. Thousands of devotees visit the temple especially during the festival of Maha Shivratri. The festival is celebrated with great devotion and faith.
Panchtirthi Harnaul: Panchtirthi Harnaul is a religious place located on the
Yamunanagar – Topra Kalan Road about 10 kms from Yamunanagar bus stand. The
place has Lord Shiv Temples, a temple of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita and a
Gurudwara that attracts a large number of tourists from all over.
There is a temple that has a pond where devotees take a holy dip.
The temple is dedicated to the five Pandavas (Yudhistra, Bhīma, Arjuna, Nakula
and Sehadeva). The visitors of the fair held in Kapal Mochan village ensure to
visit this shrine and take a sacred bath in the pond.
Panchmukhi
Temple: Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir The temple is situated on the
road coming from Bilaspur to Chhachhrauli, 4 km away from Bilaspur and attracts
large numbers of people. This temple has a statue of Hanuman with five faces,
contributing to temple's name, (Panchmukhi (five faces).
